Peas Transition Into New Crop
VANCOUVER - Aug 16/14 - SNS -- North American field pea markets continued the transition into a new crop pricing basis as harvest activity widened across the growing areas.
This was most obvious in the United States, with both green and yellow peas registered significant week over week declines against steady sales of new crop peas by growers.
Processors in the United States say initial yields have been averaging around 2,400 pounds per acre or 2,290 kilograms per hectare for yellow peas and 1,500 pounds per acre or 1,650 kilograms per hectare for green.
