Mustard Seed Production Seen Rising

VANCOUVER - Jul 25/14 - SNS -- In its latest monthly review of Canadian mustard seed Agriculture Canada's market analysis branch in Winnipeg updated forecasts for 2014.

It thinks mustard seed production this year will total 187,000 MT from 465,000 acres, compared to 155,000 MT from 395,000 acres in 2013. Harvested area is forecast at 455,000 acres, compared to 361,000 last year.

Agriculture Canada forecasts exports will reach 130,000 MT in 2014-15, compared to 130,000 MT this season. Domestic use is forecast at 47,000 MT in the coming marketing year, versus 47,000 this season.

Season ending stocks are forecast to finish the 2014-15 marketing year at 25,000 MT, versus 15,000 this season and 36,000 MT last season.

Agriculture Canada estimates grower bids will average between $755 and $775 MT for all classes of Mustard this season and predicts they will range between $725 and $755 MT in 2014-15.
