Somewhat Mixed Reaction to Area Reports
PANAMA - Jul 3/20 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading unchanged to moderately easier in some shipping positions with limited reaction from markets to the seeded area estimates from Statistics Canada and the USDA.
Land in the major birdseed ingredients in North America is up over last year, reflecting a major increase in sunflower seedings in the United States and modest increases in canaryseed area in western Canada. Seedings of millet are also up over last year, but safflower area dropped.
If yields are their five year averages this year, output of canaryseed, millet and safflower will be down. On the other hand, both oil and confection sunflower output will be up over last year.
