Mustard Seed Exports Lag 2014-15

PANAMA - Jul 8/16 - SNS -- Official exports of Canadian mustard seed reached 11,034 metric tons (MT) in May, while the quantity loaded to bulk carriers during the month reached 1,800 MT.

So far during the 2015-16 marketing year, Canada has exported 99,341 MT of mustard seed, down from 106,399 MT between August and September of the 2014-15 season. Bulk loadings were almost identical to last season, with the Canadian Grain Commission reporting they slipped from 19,400 to 19,400 MT during the same 10-month period.

The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals. It is important to recall that the CGC data may not match official export data. The CGC counts product when it is loaded to ships, while Statistics Canada bases its calculations on the bill of lading date.
