China's Net Pulse Trade Deficit Grows

VANCOUVER - Feb 19/15 - SNS -- China experienced a dramatic decline in pulse exports between January and October, with net imports of pulses rising to record levels, according to data published in the platinum version of STAT.

Total pulse imports between January and October of 2014 totaled 640,616 metric tons (MT), compared to 765,656 during the same ten month period the previous year. Even so, net imports jumped from almost 40,000 MT to 230,641.

China was a net exporter of pulses until the 2013 calendar year, when net imports jumped to 220,000. By contrast, China exported 260,000 MT more pulses than it imported in 2012.
