India's Pulse Imports Surge

VANCOUVER - Feb 3/15 - SNS -- Pulse imports by India are up significantly over last year, while exports are down almost 120,000 metric tons (MT) at just over 197,000.

Total pulse imports between January and October of 2014 totaled 3.21 million MT, compared to 2.71 million during the same ten month period the previous year.

The biggest gains were recorded by field peas and pigeon peas, with field pea purchases up almost 300,000 MT over the same period last year at 1.26 million MT, according to data contained in the platinum version of STAT. Pigeon pea purchases were up almost 260,000 MT at just over 342,000.
