Mustard Seed Bids Seen Easing

VANCOUVER - Sep 21/14 - SNS -- In its latest monthly review of Canadian mustard seed Agriculture Canada's market analysis branch in Winnipeg updated forecasts for 2014.

It reports mustard seed production this year will total 222,000 MT from 465,000 acres, compared to 155,000 MT from 395,000 acres in 2013.

Agriculture Canada forecasts exports will reach 130,000 MT in 2014-15, compared to 138,000 MT last season. Domestic use is forecast at 42,000 MT in the coming marketing year, versus 45,000 last season.

Season ending stocks are forecast to finish the 2014-15 marketing year at 60,000 MT, versus 10,000 last season and 36,000 MT the previous season.

Agriculture Canada estimates grower bids averaged $775 MT for all classes of Mustard last season and predicts they will range between $750 and $780 MT in 2014-15.
