Peas Start New Crop Transition

VANCOUVER - Jul 25/14 - SNS -- North American field pea markets are making the transition into a new crop pricing basis now that the harvest has started in parts of the United States.

Canada's harvest is expected to be underway in two weeks, starting in Alberta and some of the earliest seeded fields in Saskatchewan.

As is the case with lentils, Saskatchewan's pea crop is at widely different stages of development. This reflects the impact of a cooler than normal start to the growing season, which slowed initial crop development.
