Smaller Kharif Area Supports Peas

VANCOUVER - Jul 18/14 - SNS -- International field pea markets are more closely watching seeding progress for India's kharif season pulse crops.

As of July 18, farmers have planted just 2.16 million hectares, which is one million behind this time last year and less than half the recent five-year average.

Recent improvements in monsoon rainfall coverage suggest seedings will advance rapidly during the last half of the month.
