Defensive Mood in Field Peas
VANCOUVER - Jul 4/14 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week in a more defensive mood as traders talked up the localized floods caused by last week's heavy rainfall in southeastern Saskatchewan.
It is too early to assume that enough peas were damaged to materially effect the harvest outcome, but cool and damp conditions are becoming worrisome.
There is a an increased risk of disease in the crop, which would be expected to result in lower average yields.
