Weaker Undertone in Lentils
VANCOUVER Oct 6/13 - SNS -- International lentil markets maintained their weaker undertone during the past week in the face of increased competition for available demand.
Market sentiment is also affected by the belief among Canada's processors and exporters that this year's lentil crop is bigger than currently forecast.
Statistics Canada pegged the crop at 1.71 million metric tons (MT), comparable to production levels suggested by provincial crop reports, but a couple of hundred thousand tons lower than many traders expect.
