Sugarcane Crop Looks Better
WASHINGTON - Jun 12/13 - SNS -- Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed in 2012 is revised to 32.2 million tons, up slightly from the March estimate, according to the USDA's latest crop report.
Area harvested for sugar and seed production totaled 902,400 acres for the 2012 crop year, up 6,400 acres from March and 3% above the previous year. Yield for sugar and seed is estimated at 35.7 tons per acre, down 0.2 ton from the previous estimate but up 2.2 tons from 2011.
