Canada's Pea Exports Solid in January
VANCOUVER - Feb 28/13 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 97,100 metric tons (MT) field pea were exported through licensed terminal facilities which are required to report to it all grain movement in January. The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals.
The CGC reports exports are up from the 33,500 MT shipped the same month last year and up from the 85,900 MT shipped the previous month. This lifted season to date exports to 872,600 MT since the August start of the current marketing year, versus 1,061,300 MT during the same period last season.
The 2011-12 marketing year finished with 1,605,800 MT of peas have been exported through terminals reporting to the CGC, versus 2,461,100 MT the previous season.
Pea exports finished the 2012 calendar year at 1,353,500 MT, versus 2,316,900 last year, compared to 2,112,100 in 2010 and 1,726,800 in 2009.
