Canada's Pea Exports Improve in December

VANCOUVER - Jan 30/13 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 85,900 metric tons (MT) field pea were exported through licensed terminal facilities which are required to report to it all grain movement in December. The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals.

The CGC reports exports are down from the 196,400 MT shipped the same month last year but up from the 55,000 MT shipped the previous month. This lifted season to date exports to 775,500 MT since the August start of the current marketing year, versus 1,027,800 MT during the same period last season.

The 2011-12 marketing year finished with 1,605,800 MT of peas have been exported through terminals reporting to the CGC, versus 2,461,100 MT the previous season.
