Upward Momentum in Birdseeds
VANCOUVER - Sep 15/12 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredients maintained their upward momentum during the past week, with white proso millet establishing new record highs in both grower and inter-dealer markets.
This lifted millet to a premium to canaryseed. The last time this happened was during the 2000-01 marketing year, when millet rose above canaryseed in August and remained at a premium until March.
However, the two events are not similar. Canaryseed fell under millet in 2000-01 because of over-production.
