India Extends Pulse Export Ban

NEW DELHI - Mar 28/12 - SNS -- The Indian government will extend the ban on general pulse exports for another year, though the private trade can still export kabuli chickpeas and up to 10,000 metric tons (MT) of organic pulses.

The announcement by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry noted that the original export ban was for the six months ending March 31, 2007. But, it has been extended each year since.

Any organic pulses must be certified by APEDA as being organic pulses and lentils; and all contracts need to be registered with the government prior to shipment. Exports are only allowed through Customs EDI Ports.
