Little Change in Burdseeds

VANCOUVER - Jan 13/12 - SNS -- North American birdseed markets were little changed in light trading interest during the past week.

The USDA's final crop report for 2011 provided markets with hard data about production levels for white proso millet and some of the other seeds used by the sector.

Last year's millet crop was down 21% at 9.15 million bushels or about 207,000 metric tons (MT). Safflower production was also down, falling 23% to 170 million pounds for the smallest crop since 1991.
