U.S. Mustard Area PlungesWASHINGTON - Jun 30/11 - SNS --Farmers in the United States are showing little interest in growing mustard seed this year, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2011. Looking at other crops, the USDA noted that rapeseed area is expected to total 2,000 acres, down 300 acres from 2010. Harvested rapeseed area is forecast at 1,900 acres. Planted area of mustard seed is estimated at 26,000 acres, down 24,500 acres from 2010, and the lowest since 1996.
