Seeding Worries Keep Birdseeds Firm
VANCOUVER - Jun 25/11 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading on a relatively firm note, helped by worries about whether farmers in Canada will finish planting their canaryseed.
In its update on this year's actual and intended acreage, Statistics Canada said canaryseed area should drop from 320,000 to 275,000 acres.
If plantings do not increase, Canada will need to reduce exports in the coming marketing year to their lowest level since 1992.
