Slower Seeding Pace In Birdseeds
PANAMA - May 17/24 - SNS - Birdseed ingredient markets closed the week's trading on a somewhat firmer note helped by moderate advances in values for Canadian canaryseed and deferred sunflower seed.
Initial planting progress is being reported seeding the various products in North America, with the week starting with an estimated 19% of this year's intended canaryseed area sown.
The first 4% of this year's millet crop was sown in Colorado, the main producing state, as the week got underway. Initial seedings of sunflower were also reported.
