India Extending Pulse Trade Policies

NEW DELHI - Dec 29/10 - SNS -- India will extend its ban on pulse exports and allow pulses to be imported duty free after March 31, 2011, according to the country's agriculture minister Sharad Pawar.

The minister made the comments while talking to reporters after a panel meeting here.

Other officials at the meeting say the two policy initiatives will be extended until at least March 31, 20112, the end of the government's next fiscal year. Both policies are intended to help tame food price inflation.
