Limited Harvest Progress in SaskatchewanVANCOUVER - Sep 2/10 - SNS -- Saskatchewan's harvest inched forward during the past week, with the only 8% of all crops grown in the province, up from 2% last week, but well behind the provincial average of a quarter of the crop in the bin and a quarter ready to combine by the end of August. Significantly, 22% of the crop was ready to straight combine as the week got underway, suggesting that those areas which did not receive any more rainfall during the week would have made good progress. In its weekly crop report, Saskatchewan Agriculture complained, "Another wet week in most areas of the province has delayed crop maturity and slowed harvest." The southwest has 15% of the crop combined, the southeast 14%, and the northeast and northwest have 2% combined. In east-central Saskatchewan, 4% of the crop is combined and, in west-central Saskatchewan, the figure is 6%. Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
