Beans Largely Unchanged

PANAMA - Feb 3/23 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a somewhat mixed note, with values for North American black beans advancing, while other classes were mostly unchanged.

As a result, the U.S. dry edible bean price index inched 0.3 points higher on the week to close at 100.5. By contrast, the global pulse price index lost 0.9 points to close at 100.6 while the Canadian index fell 1.3 points lower to finish at 100.4.

India remained a significant net importer of pulses through November, with total imports for the calendar year reaching 1.996 million metric tons (MT), down from 2.344 million during the same 11 month period in 2021. Exports now sit at 502,000 MT in 2022, up from 219,000 the previous year.
