WASHINGTON - Aug 12/22 - SNS -- Peanuts production is forecast at 6.20 million pounds in 2022, down 3% from 2021, according to the latest USDA production estimate.
Area harvested is expected to total 1.50 million acres, unchanged from the Acreage report but down 3% from last year. Based on conditions as of August 1, the average yield for the United States is forecast at 4,129 pounds per acre, down less than 1% from 2021. Record high yields are forecast in Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Virginia.
