WASHINGTON - Aug 12/20 - SNS -- Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed is forecast at 33.5 million tons, up 5% from last year, according to the latest USDA crop production forecast.
Producers intend to harvest 924,400 acres for sugar and seed during the 2020 crop year, up slightly from previous forecast and up 1% from last year. Expected yield for sugar and seed is forecast at 36.2 tons per acre, up 1.2 tons from 2019.
