Mixed Week in Edible Beans

PANAMA - Jul 23/16 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets experienced some price deterioration during the past week against a modest increase in selling interest over short term demand.

International markets are also making the transition into a new crop pricing basis, with the harvest in Argentina over 70% complete and crops in Canada and the United States developing well.

This was reflected in the U.S. spot index for beans, which finished the week down 11.7 points at 154. By contrast, the world pulse price index finished lower on the week, plunged 20.8 points to finish at 202.5.

At the same time, the Canadian index sank 27.1 points to close at 189.2. The past week was the first time this calendar year that the Canadian index dropped under 200 points.
