China Pulse Trade Grows in 2015

VANCOUVER - Nov 16/15 - SNS -- Pulse imports by China jumped 33% in the seven months spanning January through July, while exports managed a 3% gain over the same period last year.

So far during the 2015 calendar year, total pulse exports were just under 328,000 metric tons (M), while total imports were just shy of 601,000, according to data published in the platinum version of STAT.

As expected, beans classified as kidney type dominated export movement, accounting for 66% of all shipments so far this year, versus 57% during the same seven-month period last year. Field pea purchases accounted for 93% of all imports this year, versus 95% by this time last year.

Total pulse imports during 2014 reached 817,177 (MT), compared to 1.06 million. Interestingly, pulse exports were also lower last year, dropping from 1.0 million in 2013 to just 567,222 MT in 2014.
