Record Start to Pea Export Campaign

WINNIPEG - Nov 3/15 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) reports 587,800 metric tons (MT) field pea were exported through licensed terminal and primary elevators which are required to report to it all grain movement in August.

The CGC data does not include exports in containers or from non-reporting terminals.

The CGC reports exports are up from the 559,400 MT shipped the same month last year and more than double from the 283,000 MT shipped the previous month.

Though movement in September is up from last year and has set a new opening season record for bulk field pea shipments, exports will not set a new marketing year record in 2015-16 because of available supplies are down 554,000 MT from the previous season at an estimated 3.61 million MT.
