Indian States Seize Pulses

NEW DELHI - Oct 21/15 - SNS -- The Indian government seized 35,000 metric tons (MT) of pulses as part of its de-hoarding operations.

Implementing a recent amendment to the Central Order under Essential Commodities Act, individual states have imposed limits on the quantity of pulses individual companies can keep in inventory.

The raids targeted pulses sourced from imports, those held by exporters, large food processing units as well as large departmental retailers.

Just over 2,700 surprise raids and inspections were carried out, netting 35,289 MT of pulses.
