Peas Watching India

PANAMA - Oct 18/15 - SNS -- New from India dominated field pea markets for much of the past week.

One of the key decisions made by the Indian government with the potential to affect field peas is the imposition stock limits on pulses sourced from imports, as well as stocks to be used as raw-materials by licensed food processors and those held by large departmental retailers.

When stock limits were initially extended through September 30, 2016, these categories were exempted for pulses. That changed over the weekend in a bid to force product onto domestic markets in the hopes increased supply will lower retail prices.
