Record Kharif Seeding Pace

VANCOUVER Jul 17/15 - SNS -- India's farmers forgot they are supposed to plant less when monsoon rain activity eases, with the result there are now a record quantity of pulses in thr ground as of the middle of July.

However, seeding of all crops is not advancing at a record pace. As of July 17, farmers have planted 56.335 million hectares of all crops, up sharply from the 34.532 million sown by this time last year.

Even so, seeding progress is just above the average of 53.371 million hectares for all crops by this time in July and well down from 2013, when a record 62 million hectares was in the ground by mid-July.
