French Pea Exports Falter in May
VANCOUVER - Jul 8/15 - SNS -- Field pea exports from France fell sharply in May despite movement to the Indian subcontinent, according to data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).
Export shipments during the month totalled 9,800 metric tons (MT), down 52% from the 20,590 MT shipped the previous month, and down 7% from the 10,570 MT shipped the same month last year. Even so, shipments so far this season are down 24% at 131,060 MT.
Most peas were shipped to European destinations, with Belgium the most important, followed by Switzerland and Germany. No field peas were shipped to China, but movement was reported to India, Pakistan and Nepal during the month.
