Strong Bulk Pea Movement in May

VANCOUVER - Jun 24/15 - SNS -- Canadian bulk field pea exports slipped in May, with unofficial data from the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) showing port clearances were down 8% from the previous month but more than double the same month last year.

Unofficial data shows that 198,600 metric tons (MT) of peas were loaded to bulk conventional vessels from licensed terminals and directly primary elevators during the month, compared to 184,200 MT the same month last year and 128,200 the previous month.

Bulk conventional port clearances have been under 200,000 MT per month since peaking at 559,400 MT in September.

Season to date bulk clearances now total 2.022 million MT, compared to 1.485 million during the same 10-month period last season.
