French Pea Export Pace Rising
VANCOUVER - Jun 8/15 - SNS -- Field pea exports from France maintained their recent upward trend through the end of April, according to data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).
Export shipments during the month totalled 20,590 metric tons (MT), up 20% from the 17,115 MT shipped the previous month, and up 40% from the 14,305 MT shipped the same month last year. Even so, shipments so far this season are down 25% at 121,260 MT.
Most peas were shipped to European destinations, with Belgium the most important, followed by United Kingdom and Norway. For the second month in a row, field peas were shipped to China, which represents a new market outlet for France.
