French Pea Exports Weaken

VANCOUVER - Apr 10/15 - SNS -- Field pea exports from France slowed considerably in February, falling below the quantity shipped the previous month and the same month last year, according to data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).

Export shipments during the month totalled 10,927 metric tons (MT), down 19% from the 13,700 MT shipped the previous month, and down 11% from the 12,470 MT shipped the same month last year. Shipments so far this season are down 36% at 83,555 MT.

Most peas were shipped to European destinations, with Belgium the most important, followed by Switzerland and Italy. No field pea shipments were reported to Egypt or the Indian subcontinent.
