U.S. Mustard Area Down 20%

WASHINGTON - Jun 30/14 - SNS -- Farmers in the United States have reduced land in mustard seed, according to the USDA's seeded area report for 2014.

Planted area of mustard seed is estimated at 36,000 acres, down 20% from 2013, and the second-lowest planted area since 1996. Mustard seed area for harvest is forecast at 34,500 acres, down 21% from the previous year.

Acreage planted to rapeseed is estimated at 2,600 acres, up 900 acres from 2013. Harvested rapeseed area is forecast at 2,500 acres.
