USDA Revises 2013 Cane Harvest Down
WASHINGTON - Jun 11/14 - SNS -- Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed in 2013 is revised to 30.8 million tons, down 2% from the March estimate, according to the USDA's latest crop production estimates for 2014.
Area harvested for sugar and seed production totaled 910,800 acres for the 2013 crop year, up 4,200 acres from March and up less than 1% from the previous year. Yield for sugar and seed is estimated at 33.8 tons per acre, down 0.9 ton from the previous estimate and down 1.9 tons from 2012.
