Canadian Dry Bean Supplies Down

VANCOUVER - Dec 20/13 - SNS -- In its latest monthly review of Canadian dry edible beans Agriculture Canada's market analysis branch in Winnipeg reports production totalled 209,000 MT from 220,000 acres this year, compared to 281,000 MT last year.

Agriculture Canada forecasts exports will reach 265,000 MT this season, compared to 297,000 MT during the previous marketing year. Domestic use is forecast at 29,000 MT, compared to 38,000 last season.

Season ending stocks are forecast to finish the 2013-14 season at 5,000 MT, compared to 30,000 last season.

Agriculture Canada estimates grower bids will average between $980 and $1010 MT for all classes of beans this season.
