Myanmar's Exports Rally in October

WASHINGTON - Dec 19/12 - SNS -- Dry edible bean and other pulse exports from Myanmar improved in October, with shipments jumping from 70,941 metric tons (MT) last year to 110,498 MT this year.

Export clearances in were also up from September's 79,215 MT, helping pull exports so far this calendar year 13% ahead of the same 10-month period last year. At 1.383 million MT, total exports are already ahead of last year's final tally.

Of all pulses shipped in October, 73% or 80,721 MT went to India; while Singapore took 10% or 11,316 MT; and Korea took 9% or 9,903 MT. Matpe beans (black gram) accounted for 55% of the total exports, followed by Toor Whole and Mung beans with 28% and 12% respectively.
