VANCOUVER - Mar 3/12 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a strong note, helped by increasingly bullish sentiment over this year's production prospects.

While historically high prices would be expected to draw land into edible beans, many processors in the United States believe farmers there and elsewhere have lost confidence in the crop.

Recent USDA forecasts are calling for a major increase in corn plantings in that country and little change in soybeans; while farmers in Canada are expected to continue to favor those crops over edible beans.
