Edible Beans Remain Firm

VANCOUVER - Jan 6/12 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone through the Christmas and New Year's holiday period, helped by problems with crops in Mexico, Brazil and other Latin American countries.

Brazil has enough product to avoid entering markets through the end of February.

Mexico, on the other hand, has been buying now that the government has opened a 100,000 metric ton duty free tariff rate quota for beans grown in countries other than Canada or the United States.
