Sugarcane Harvest Yields Improve
WASHINGTON - Dec 10/14 - SNS -- Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed in 2014 is forecast at 31.2 million tons, up 5% from last month and up 1% from last year, according to the latest crop production estimates from the USDA.
Producers intend to harvest 884,100 acres for sugar and seed during the 2014 crop year up, slightly from the previous forecast. Expected yield for sugar and seed is forecast at 35.3 tons per acre, up 1.5 tons from the November forecast and previous year.
