Field Pea Export Pace May Improve

VANCOUVER - May 10/14 - SNS -- North American field pea markets finished the week little changed, but with optimism the pace of exports will improve in the coming weeks.

Even so, there is an underlying worry that legislated movement mandates for Canada's railways could make it harder for product originating in Saskatchewan to make it to port.

The railways appear to be favoring lines and locations with faster turnaround times to port, affecting export movement of peas and other commodities to Mexico as well as most locations in Saskatchewan.
