WASHINGTON - Mar 31/14 - SNS -- All cotton planted in the United States this year is expected to total 11.1 million acres, 7% above last year, according to the USDA's seeding intentions estimates for 2014.
Upland area is expected to total 10.9 million acres, up 7% from 2013. American Pima area is expected to total 158,000 acres, down 21% from 2013. As of March 23, cotton planting in Texas was 3% complete, identical to the same time last year but 1 percentage point behind the 5-year average.
