U.S. Mustard Area Drops 12%

WASHINGTON - Jun 28/13 - SNS -- Planted area of mustard seed is estimated at 45,000 acres, down 12% from 2012, and the third-lowest planted area since 1996, according to the USDA seeded area estimates for 2013.

Mustard seed area for harvest is forecast at 43,100 acres, down 13% from the previous year.

Acreage planted to rapeseed is estimated at 1,500 acres, down 700 acres from 2012. Harvested rapeseed area is forecast at 1,400 acres.
