Peas Maintain Firm Tone

VANCOUVER - Jun 14/13 - SNS -- Field pea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week against tightening stocks in nearby shipping positions.

Some market participants also expressed concern over the fact a large part of this year's crop was seeding at the same time, leading to a speculative worry that weather problems could affect a larger part of the crop than might otherwise be the case.

Canadian growers have been more active in markets, with the Canadian Grain Commission reporting deliveries to primary elevators totaled 47,500 MT for the week ending June 10, up from 34,700 the previous week and above this season to date weekly average deliveries of 43,453 MT.
