Tight Supplies Support Peas
VANCOUVER - Apr 13/13 - SNS -- North American field pea markets finished the week's trading on a generally strong note, with available supplies of both green and yellow peas rapidly tightening.
Green peas continue to maintain a massive premium to yellow in both current and new crop shipping positions. This is being supported by demand from the Indian subcontinent.
Some market participants have become concerned about a potential 'reality check' once this year's seeded area is known and markets become more confident about the prospective size of the 2013 harvest.
