Underlying Worry About 2013 Acreage
VANCOUVER - Mar 30/13 - SNS -- North American field pea markets were not surprised by the USDA's seeding intentions estimates.
If realized, total area would be up 30% at 850,000 acres, while average yields would result in a 633,000 metric ton (MT) harvest.
The USDA did not break out seeded area by class, but it would not be surprising to see at least 45% of the land go into green peas in response to current bullish market conditions for that class.
