World Bean Markets Firm

VANCOUVER - Mar 23/13 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a firmer note against tightening supplies from major exporters such as China.

At the same time North American processors are becoming more defensive about pricing, worrying farmers could severely reduce plantings this spring.

This made it easier for markets to hold, as reflected in the spot price index for U.S. beans, which was unchanged on the week to finish at 1308. The grower prices index for U.S. origin beans was also unchanged on the week, closing at 1227.
