French Pea Exports Falter

VANCOUVER - Mar 13/13 - SNS -- The pace of field pea export movement from France faltered in January, rising above the same month last year, but plunging from the quantiy exported in December, according to data compiled by the Union Nationale Interprofessionnelle des Plantes Riches en Proteines (UNIP).

Export shipments in January totalled 8,080 metric tons (MT), down 68% from the 19,195 shipped in December, and just above the 7,900 MT shipped the same month last year. This lifts export shipments so far this marketing year to 82,730 MT, compared to 160,060 MT during the same period last season.

Europe destinations remained the most important during the month, accounting for at least 96.1% of total field pea exports.
